Shed not for her the bitter tear
Nor give the heart to Vain Regret
Tis but the casket that lies here
The gem that filled it sparkles yet
Two matching stones, tops with names broken.
Sarah E. Sterrett 28 Mar 1825 20 Dec 1896
William W. Sterrett 13 Aug 1828 20 Dec 1896
John Sterrett, died 30 Dec 1864, aged 33 years, 9 months, 16 days
Hand-hewn sandstone...good work but name eroded away.
It appears to have a double "t" in name, but looks like ends in "se"
The other side says:
herreststhe
body of Beniam
im Newman wo
se borned 16 day
of May 1784 die
March 28, 1803
his ache 19 year
and 10 mots and 99
I believe this translates to "Benjamin Newman, 16 May 1784 - 28 March 1803"
A footstone has the initials J.B.
The following couple has 2 large matching stones:
Elizabeth H. Sterrett who departed this life May 10, 1821, aged 78 years.
Robert Sterrett, December 31, 1812 (?) aged 78
One nice stone with all information gone.
